Celebrity Sighting!May 31st
I don’t have any wedding updates for you, but I did have two experiences this weekend, well, Friday to be exact, that I wanted to share with you.
Friday, my cousin Nathan graduated from Portage Central. Benn and I had to leave Grand Rapids about an hour early so that we could be to Wings Stadium between 6 and 6:30 for his ceremony. We had just made it through the construction on 131 when we notice a Mustang GT right in front of us. The driver was wearing a dark fedora hat…much like the Kalamazoo American Idol contestant (Matt Giraud) often wore this past season. Benn said, “Is that Matt Giraud?” I was immediately star struck. We were pretty sure it was him, but we had no idea he was in the area. Benn started to speed up so we could pass him. I snapped a picture when we were behind him, and then prepared myself to take the shot as we drove by. I was so excited…but mostly nervous because it’s MATT GIRAUD 6 feet away from me! Benn drove by him and I snapped a picture, but unfortunately I was still zoomed in…go figure. So I didn’t get a picture of him, but he definitely looked right at me. It was definitely Matt, and I was realllly embarrassed and felt like an annoying paparazzi. Then, HE decides to pass us! There was no way I could put my camera up again, so as he drove by us sllloooowwwwly, all I could do was look at him and smile, and he looked at me the whole time! He had a thug-like look on his face with his awesome fedora and sunglasses, so it would have been an awesome picture…but I was too star struck and embarrassed to take it. I did take a picture once he passed us though, and you’ll just have to believe that it was him. Needless to say, Benn let me have it. He’s still making fun of me for wimping out. I called mom right away and she guessed who we passed right away because it was announced earlier in the day for the first time that he would be in GR signing autographs. So that was epic experience number 1.

Epic experience number two was at Nathan’s graduation. Nathan gave the Commencement address for his class, and I have to say, I was very proud, as was the rest of his family. He was very honest and had a great message. Everyone was crying at the end. It was a very sentimental experience. Grandpa Frisbie, or Papa as Nathan called him, would have been proud, and I’m sure he was. Congratulations, Nathan!
