Little BlessingsJul 26th

Don’t you just love little blessings?

This Saturday I hosted a Tastefully Simple party at my mom’s.  We had quite a few people over to taste some delicious snacks!  Benn even made chicken and corn for everyone after the tasting.  Man was that delicious!  Thanks, hunny!  Jill, Chad, Arin and Rachael (Benn’s family) are up from Texas, and I’m so glad they were able to come!  Earlier in the day while we were getting ready for the party, Jill and Chad dropped Arin off to help us get ready and just hang out.  What a little blessing!  We had so much fun!  She helped me make cookies and the party favors, and she helped Benn shuck the corn.  My favorite part was making the cookies with her.  She’s 11 and loves to cook.  She had to show me how to roll the dough into balls.  The dough was really sticky and had big chocolate chips in it, and when you rolled it it all fell apart and there was anything but a ball left.  Arin had the technique down, so she grabbed the sticky dough off my hands and made it into a ball within seconds!  She did a great job helping with the party favors and shucking the corn for Benn.

I experienced two more blessings after the party.  Rachael and Benn’s other sister Sierra were at the party, too.  Arin and Sierra are 11 and Rachael is 7.  I was able to play with Rachael a little bit after the party.  We tried to play fetch with Belle, but she wasn’t in the mood.  We played ladderball for a while and then she asked to play a bean bag toss game we played on the 4th of July.  As we were playing she got closer and closer to the board until she got three bean bags in the hole in a row!  I just kept laughing and laughing.  I love having her around.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to play with Sierra.  Benn was able to while I helped Brandi (my newest friend and Tastefully Simple consultant) get her stuff together.  I was also able to talk to my friends and guests who were there.  After a lot of people left, I was able to ask Sierra to come inside.  I asked her if she would like to be  bridesmaid in the wedding.  She had a huge smile on her face!  I showed her the dress she’d be wearing and she seemed to like it!  It was so nice to see her excited to be part of the wedding, especially since she talks about it every time we see her!

A few weekends ago I was able to ask Arin to be a bridesmaid and Rachael my flower girl!  I’m so happy to have all three of my soon-to-be sisters in the wedding!

I love those three little blessings  and can’t wait to be their sister!

Dress ShoppingJul 13th

This past Saturday, Mom and I went to Quincy, MI to Patty’s Apparel and Bridal Shoppe. My Maid of Honor, Katie and Bridesmaid, Devan, came too because it’s a long drive.  Katie was actually there to find a dress for her bridesmaids to wear, so she brought her mom too.  I couldn’t believe how huge that shop was!  Two levels, three seprate rooms upstairs, and our changing room was HUGE!  There was a couch, table, and three mirrors in the corner of the room with a platform.  We had 7 people in there at one point and there was still room for more!  It was crazy!

It was really busy, so we didn’t have anyone helping us, but it ended up working out.  In the end, two women came to check on us; the owner and another lady.  They were older, 50s or 60s, and very friendly.  Our room was a little warm, and they apologized for that and not being able to help us out.  As we were getting ready to leave, the owner brought up this pitcher of ice water and cups!  Those ladies were very sweet and helpful.  We ended up staying a little longer than we hoped, but I’m so glad we went.  Katie and I both picked out dresses for our bridesmaids!  I don’t want to describe it because I want it to be a surprise.  I feel like it’s not a very traditional dress, and I love it!  It looked great on Katie and Devan, and I think it will look great on the other girls.  It’s such a relief to have that dress picked out.  I was thinking of having everyone wear different dresses, but that is just so pretty on both of them and it’s so unique.  I wasn’t expecting to find anything like that!

Well, just wanted to give you an update!  I have 7 chapters of reading to do for class this week.  I can’t wait for this weekend!  It’s art fair weekend in Ann Arbor! I hope you’re all having a great summer!

Love,

Mindy

Weekend PlansJul 6th

Benn and I were driving home Friday and we decided to go check out Kindleberger Park (which I’ve found is more easy to spell than it is to say) because we wanted to see where the sun was and other various things.  There was a wedding going on though so we couldn’t stand in the garden and observe.  We were able to walk around though to figure out if we wanted to take bridal party pictures there or if we needed to find a different location.  There’s some pretty nifty spots…lots of hills, unique trees, and shade.

This coming weekend Katie, mom, Aunt Naomi and one o f my bridesmaids and best friend, Devan, and I are going to Quincy to Patty’s Apparel and Bridal Shoppe. Katie’s my cousin and she’s getting married in October.  She’s looking for brown dresses and I’m looking for peach dresses.  Hopefully we’ll find some nice dresses!
